An approach that is intermediate between the highly concentrating power tower concept and the non-concentrating flat-plate collector is to use a series of distributed collectors, each of which has a modest concentration ratio (10-100) to collect the solar energy by heating a fluid to some moderately high temperature (100-500 ° C).
